The Munich Fashion Award honors European emergent fashion and accessory designers with sustainable concepts, makes technological sustainability solutions more visible and provides the winners access to these solutions in order to contribute to a more sustainable and fair fashion system.
The Munich Fashion Award particularly honors fashion collections and accessories that balance aesthetics and sustainability in a seamless, market-appealing way.
The 1st edition of the Munich Fashion Award will take place with a Red-Carpet-Event, Exposition and a Conference, on 15th & 16th of May 2025 in Munich.
The jury will assess your application in three categories.
1. DESIGN AESTHETIC
Max. 60 points – Creative and aesthetic qualities of your designs.
2. ECOLOGICAL & SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
Max. 60 points – 10 points in each of the following dimensions:

The five candidates with the highest total score will be invited to Munich. In Munich, the finalists will meet the jury directly to convince them of their collections, products and collection concepts. A fashion presentation on the evening of 15 May as part of the Red Carpet Event with Award Ceremony will also be included in the jury’s decision. The final judgement of the jury will therefore be made both at the walk-through during the exhibition and at the fashion presentation.

The Munich Fashion Award is organized by the City of Munich and includes two aesthetic award categories: Fashion and Accessories.
CASH
The 3 winners of the FASHION category will receive the following prize money:

VISIBILITY: FASHION PRESENTION/EXPOSITION
In addition to the monetary prizes, the five fashion finalists will show their collection (min. 15 looks / max. 20 looks) in front of an invited audience at a fashion show during a Red Carpet Event including the award ceremony on May 15th, 2025 in Munich. The products of the five finalists in the accessory category will be showcased at the on-site exhibition.

We help scaling up: In addition, there will be in-kind prizes (including masterclasses, network, conference), which the city of Munich is putting together with the partners of the MFA.

Individuals cannot apply for the Munich Fashion Award. Applicants must be a wholesale business or direct-to-consumer brand.
It is possible to apply for multiple categories.
Being shortlisted does not mean that an applicant has won. A shortlist is a pre-selection of finalists from which the winners are being chosen. Only those who are shortlisted will be invited to the Munich Fashion Award, but it does not guarantee a win.
Each application is carefully reviewed and evaluated for the corresponding category. You will be contacted through email with a final decision. Please check your spam folder if you have not been contacted by us until 30th of March 2025.
The finalists‘ travel and stay to and during the MFA will be organised by the City of Munich. As this is a sustainable event, it is being organised with this in mind.
There will be 5 nominees per category.
There will be an exhibition and a fashion presentation for all those who are shortlisted. Both will take place on the 15th of May 2025 for which you will need fifteen looks.
